Introducing Rosie our Dog Mentor.
The Dog Mentor Programme has built upon the benefits of the human-animal bond by providing children positive experiences with dogs that can help them educationally, developmentally.
The aim of The Dog Mentor is to create a completely universal offering in our environment for not only social, emotional and mental health well being but also covers all aspects of curriculum based education in order to improve educational outcomes.
Since 2012, implementation of The Dog Mentor Programme in Primary and Secondary schools across the UK has proven to have significant impact on many children’s lives.
These positive impacts follow the premise that improving communication within schools will improve behaviour.
The Dog Mentor Programme has been implemented in over 600 schools all over the UK with over 1500 education professionals having been trained. More importantly, there are now more than 700 Dog Mentor dogs working in school every day.

BBC Make a Difference Award
We are absolutely thrilled to share some fantastic news with our school community!
A few months ago, our beloved Dog Mentor, Rosie, was nominated for the prestigious BBC Make a Difference Award. Out of hundreds of incredible nominations from across the region, Rosie made it all the way to the final four. The competition was certainly unique she found herself up against another dog, a cat, and even a goat!
Rosie was invited to the final ceremony held at the International Bomber Command Centre. We are delighted to announce that Rosie won!
This award is a wonderful recognition of the joy, comfort, and support Rosie brings to our school. If you happened to tune in to Look North, you might have even spotted Mrs Tonks and Rosie sharing their big moment on TV.
